Sund / Sonth (Dried Ginger)

Sund, botanically known as Zingiber officinale and commonly called Dried Ginger or Sonth, is the dehydrated form of the ginger rhizome. In the Unani and Greco-Arabic systems of medicine, Sund is distinguished from fresh ginger (Adrak) by its concentrated warming properties. It is classified as "Hot and Dry" (Garm-o-Khushk), making it a powerful agent for balancing "Cold" humors like Balgham (Phlegm) and Sauda (Black Bile). Known for its spicy aroma and pungent taste, it has been used for millennia as both a culinary staple and a core therapeutic herb.
